Asakani'no da luku!
Greetings my people!
Manawa A~ konudan! Welcome to Spring! As winter ends and spring begins, it's a time for fresh starts. This cycle, as old as time, reminds us of the balance in nature — a balance that our Taino ancestors knew and respected. In the tapestry of our lives, the changing seasons are not just shifts in weather but also reminders of the cycles of life, death, and renewal that govern us and everything around us.
As we witness the Earth awaken from her winter sleep, we're reminded of the beliefs of our ancestors, who lived in harmonious balance with these natural cycles. They understood the importance of aligning their lives with the rhythms of the Earth and the cosmos, and they honored these transitions with rituals that spoke of respect, gratitude, and interconnectedness. Let's approach this new season with open hearts and minds, ready for the lessons it brings.
This month we will continue with our Hiwatahia lessons, focusing on seasons and lunar/solar events. Our language is a part of our culture and a link to our ancestors. As we continue honoring these natural events, we're also affirming who we are and our place in life. Every word spoken in our indigenous language is a step closer to decolonizing the way we view the world around us. It's a statement of our independence and sovereignty.
